Hey guys the meeting is tomorow night. All rubber guys please show up for the vote to keep the rwd and fwd classes seperate rather then one group. In the seven years I have been apart of the club it has always been two classes. Anyway as they say if it's not broken don't fix it.

I herd that the rwd were in a class of there own cause they were slower than fwd now some are faster don't hate me but i think the couple of chevettes got out of hand some one asked me should i build a chevette what are you supose to tell them go buy a modified chassis and put a chevette body on it OR just put the emblem on and see if you can get away with it
I am whinning i bit but i don't realy care i like the challenge
for front wheel drive cars someone could come out there with a first gen civic and smoke everyone(if that person knows how to drive) so where do you draw a line I don't know

Over the years I have served on the rules community, head of tech inspection three terms as President of this club and many Sundays flagging. I am trying to ensure the intent of the rules as they were written is for the fairness of competition.
1. The two classes were never based that one was slower but the car construction drive wheels have different handling, track line and set up. - 2. The rules state there are two different car types allowed 3. The awards in the rules state that each type of car class will be competing for first second and third place trophies FWD and RWD. 4. The standard the club was using for years is that you required three cars to create a class. This season 4 cars are competing in RWD. 5. The loss of last years champion has nothing to do with this issue. 6. The classes were created to allow competitors an opportunity to compete in vehicles that they enjoy driving and race against car types that are of the same car construction.
I look forward to discussing this further at the meeting.

Not to long ago I was was struggling beating those vettes.I got a really hot tip on those cars, the lines that they were running were faster than the racing lines that the FWD's were running. So it lead me to making changes so my car would work well running the outside line. Here you have 2 completely different cars,1 FWD and 1 RWD with completely different set-ups running the identical racing line on the track at the time.It made for the best racing I've ever competed in, since I joined the club. C.W. will vouch for me on this, point being 2nd place sux. These guys that are winning, had most of the field already beat by mid- July. You have to want it because sad to say, thats what it takes to win.I Don't know anyone who says that they want to go out and finish 1 in there class.Me, I really don't care which way the vote went, I go out there to beat EVERYBODY cause 2nd BLOWS.But thats just me,my wife finally sees it my way and does not question me anymore when Im getting a car ready for ice racing in mid April.Even she knows the competition never sleeps. Peter you rock!!sounds like another fine season. I wish I was there.

i was wondering if any of the rubber cars are gonna get checked for cheating this year.... does a 4x4 1/4 inch thick steel bumper would that pass as a bumper on a VW rabbit??

hope you're joking cause such a bumper in not permitted in the rules. We are sapose to be using stock front bumpers mine is. reason being that you're not sapose to be running into things with the front end of the car. with stock front bumpers drivers know that if ya hit hard the rad and others things such as lights could be taken out and that ends your race day.The idea is to drive around people not through them.also such a bumper could to looked at adding weight to the car also not permitted.

Agreed! Such a bumper could also cause considerable damage to another car. For instance, move the cage over and bend the frame, rendering the car longer fit for racing, thus forcing that driver to build a new car. Something like that would be most unfortunate.

Interesting topic ! - If this is the case, then the party that is questioning the rules should file a protest if they believe a car is not compliant to the rules. The club Tech Inspector should if time permits do spot checks on areas such as front bumpers, tires etc, but we are a volunteer club and self policing and the protest procedure can also end what is not acceptable for car construction.
