Hello all.. I've been searching far and wide of a forum dedicated to ice racing, and well, here I am... the burning question I have is when studding tires (using bolts/screws, etc).. how many should you have per tire? too few and you'll rip them out and it'll ride rough as sin, too many and they'll glide on the ice, there's gotta be some rules of thumb for this, given a certain weight on every tire.
I figure my car to be about 2000 lbs, RWD, 50/50 weight distribution, gives about 500 lbs per tire probably using 195 75 r14 or similar tires, but maybe 155/80 r13's in the front... I'd love to talk to someone (or plural) about nitty gritty tech and my plans for this car, shock compression/rebound rates, sway bar rates, wheelbases, etc
Oh, the car is an 85 Mazda Rx7, with any luck supercharged, and the race I hope to have it ready by is basically an outlaw race.. a bunch of hicks on a lake, NO rules.. so I'm not concerned with what is typically allowed or frowned upon... at least not yet
Thanks in advance
