Don the visionary.
Now the campaign needs to begin to have the ET tire rules changed to the HT tire rules. Your efforts should be enshrined by naming the new class that will evolve from this as the Hupe Tire Class.
Thanks for everything you do for the club and the sport in general!!

Good to hear Hupe. Now the hard part comes having to police the tire rules. Just another quick question hupe if some one was to protest the tires that were on your car would they win? I am one of the cheapest guys out there and will be building a set of tires as soon as we can agree that the tires wont be protested every time we turn around. You have all the power to make this happen hupe. Just think if someone comes out with HCT's and starts betting you cause he has a tire that is all chunked off around the stud more than the next guy. then its not going to be cheap any more

getting the tire hardness and supply are both questions we need to answer, yes the tires i used have blocks that slowly go down as they are used, but it would happen to all the tires used so the field would still be even , as for track wear it seems jeff's car was carving tracks in the ice cause it's heavier, as for if someone protested my tire I would also point out that menards when used also chunk out it's just that as it disappears the studs has less support so it leans over and it exposes more stud so if the question is asked are you going to adjust your stud height I would say adjust the stud height on the menard and I will adjust the stud height on my tire. I made a couple of tires that had a stud count of 29 per foot ( don't make tires with only 4 hours sleep in 30 hours) but I was more worried about holding air than stud count, they worked perfectly for 4 days of racing, made air when warmed up and stayed at 55# both weekends so at this point in time I've got tires that work for about 130 bucks, but back to the original questionmy tires would not hold up as raced due to the number of studs being 29 per foot, but would have held up to stud protrusion cause the stud were set with the block I showed the club and when assembled they were ALL just shy of 190 thou high, the block disappeared around the stud causing it to protrude more after running for call it 6 hours of use!! the tires are actually still on my car except for the one I took off for the meeting. I will be running HCT next year and at the beginning of the year when assembled they will conform to the rules but I make no claims after they have 2 hours on them, BUT Menard tires have no claims of life on them either so if I protest menard tires for stud protrusion and they don't measure up what happens are you forced to go buy more cause the blocks chunked out and the stud protrudes more, all rules should be applied equally to both tires, as for who tests different tires that will be for us all to decide cause we (I include wife, crew and all those who have talked with me about this) have made a studs that will work in just about any tire as long as a repeatable pattern can be done. I will not mbe at the next meeting due to work committments, but am ready to talk about this at any meeting I can get to. Don
