The Mission Bay site is complete on fall preparation - Snow Fence and bleachers are on site along with the garbage cans. Rob from RS Bobcat was out at the site yesterday Dec 22, 2015 and completed the brushing of the roadway in and the parking lot. The parking lot has been increased in size with the machine that Rob used.
The club extends it's thanks to Rob and his team for giving up time during his normal working hours to prep the site. Thanks Rob!!!
As of today there is no ice at the site, but it was starting to form before the rain showed up. The weather for the next few weeks will be seasonal norms after the 25th.
So, pray for some snow and cold and we should be starting most likely a week late. We will keep everyone updated via this post on the sites condition and the start of the first race
Thank you Gary Adomko

I have a question. Now while I couldn't make the meeting I got some cliff notes from a member who was in attendance. Am I correct in saying you are considering using hay bails for the corners if the amount of snow is less than adequate? I seem to remember a big fuss was made over this a few years back by the vice president and the comp director when the president suggested it at that time and the season was pushed back due to a lack of snow. What makes this year different?

To the general membership, as per the request by the members attending the meeting held Jan 6, 2016. The following was discussed and agreed upon by the membership
1. Due to the insufficient ice thickness - less than 16 inches the test and tune and racing scheduled for January 16 and 17th have been cancelled.
2. The club will be finishing site preparation on January 16 installing timing and scoring loop along with the advertising signs.
3. Pending ice thickness the first new date for test and tune will be January 23 and racing January 24th
3. Regarding the possible use of man made barriers - these are only options under consideration. It is the mandate of the club to always conduct safe racing events. It is the responsibility of the competitors to have car control and so driving to the track conditions which can include snow banks or no snow banks is in the drivers hands.
4. The club over many years the has conducted many ice racing events with no snow banks - for example 2003 had no to low snow for until late February.
5. Regarding the non-members comments about a previous decision perhaps they could purchase a membership attend a meeting and raise the question in the proper forum.

I am a member thank you very much, you sold it to me at the auto slalom this year. Then why was the idea of man made barriers shot down so aggressively in the past? I'm quoting here "if your not allowed to let the spectators in the pits for safety reasons why don't you just bring the pits to the spectators....so much safety going on right there." I just want to know why there seems to be a lack of consistency in the club as of late. As stated in my first post I was unable to attend due to a work conflict. I feel this is the proper forum for these questions as it is a club forum is it not?

All 2015 memberships expired October 30, 2015. Please raise your concerns at the next club meeting once you have purchased a membership.

So because of a loop hole I don't have a membership. Nice. And because of this you refuse to answer my questions, sounds like you know I'm right and are just avoiding answering by deflecting. Real mature.

Hello to all from south of the border! We have raced many events with no snow in IIRA using 8" black hdpe piping for corners sunk in the ice about 6" with an auger and 6' tall. They work well as being very visible, intimidating not to hit, yet if you hit them, them release and no damage to the cars. We use wooden lath for track guides in-between shutdown markers for corners. Place flaggers on inside corners with vehicles for use as barriers protects them. Just let you know what we have done. No snow eliminates rollovers, but may be a little more challenging for the rubber cars. See you in Feb. if not before. Paul #22

Grow up Cale, every season and situation of ice racing brings unique challenges, the current and all past elected executive members have hopefully made all decisions with Safety in Mind, when you are a member of the board of directors you get to make or influence decisions, it is no fault of the current executive that a previous executive could not agree on a certain decision and the current executives owe you no explanation for past years decisions or indecision. The board is elected to run the club, if members don't like how the club is being run they can certainly toss their hat in the ring for a spot on the board of directors.
You come on here and pick fights for no reason, stop it. It is annoying and childish, it is the reason people don't want to get involved.

The track has been plowed and we are ready for January 23 test and tune , Gate fee is 70.00 per day pending car count. If we hit 14 cars per day we can lower the rate to 60.00 per day and teams will receive the additional 10.00 back. See you next Saturday

Actually Lucas it is 110% the fault of the current executive that the past executive couldn't agree. Gary and Cameron were the ones that shot down the idea of using hay bails and guess who is now the president and brought up the hay bail idea this time. Hence my comment on zero consistency with this new executive. Their past decisions don't match their current ones and I'm curious as to why. I don't come here to pick fights I come here to ask questions, and if certain people don't like them then oh well.

Cale, This question you have asked has no point and no potential positive outcome, are are just trying to point out a decision that was previously made that you regard as an error? This is why I say you come on here causing fights, what answer do you want? Why hay bales weren’t safe before but now they are? Because this board has a different opinion than a previous board. It doesn’t matter that there are members on this board who were on the previous board, they are hopefully making decisions as a group with safety at the forefront.
Or do you think it is unsafe to use hay bales and they should not do it this year? You haven’t taken a side in your little battle, you are complaining that previously they would not use hay bales while simultaneously complaining that this year they may use hay bales. Honestly I don’t care what side you are on. Buy a membership, run for a position. What outcome do you want? Let’s all hop in our flux capacitor powered DeLoreans and go back in time and un-cancel the races you are so concerned about? They were canceled for safety reasons at the time. If the current board thinks it is safe to race this year, then that is their call, as I said they do not owe you an explanation. Are you just trying to point out that Gary and Cameron changed their mind? Good, that should merit accolades, it shows their growth as leaders in the club that no one else currently wants to lead. It shows they are not closed minded and can change and try new things for the benefit of the club.
Nobody owes you an explanation for why they changed their mind about something. They have been elected and the decisions and choices are theirs to make in the moments as best they can.
Troll - One who posts a deliberately provocative message to a newsgroup or message board with the intention of causing maximum disruption and argument
Keyboard warrior - Someone who makes/uses aggressive words against someone on the internet especially web forums, usually a quiet small natured person in real life
Bail – sums of money given in exchange for prison release
Bale – tightly woven bundle of hay, straw, cotton or other material
