The track has been plowed, advertising signs are up, trailer and scoring loop in place. At this point in time the season will start on January 23rd with Test and Tune and First Race for Points is scheduled for January 24, 2016. Gate fee for the first weekend is $70.00 per day and if we have the car count it will be reduced to 60.00 and refunds for the additional 10.00 will be issued back to the racers. I would like to thank the following teams or persons for there time at track party today. 3, 9, 38, 57, 88, 67, John and Amber Kelly, Jordan Vetterli, Tweedy Bird Racing , Reg Metclaff, John Sacek for the use of his ice auger.

Great news about the site prep but I was informed that we only have 14" near the shore and 16" in the middle.. The club policy has always been to have between 18" and 24" before we considered safe to race. If these present thickness numbers are true why is the executive not following this standard

John, Please check the ice thickness charts on this site. 9" will support 3.5 ton truck. The club will be doing test holes again. There are additional charts posted by MNR Ontario and 14 to 16 inches are still safe. Regarding club policy, I have never seen this in writing, however it most likely became a guideline from past participants on the board. The board appreciates your concerns. No one is trying to place any person or the club at risk. www.almanac.com/sites/new.almanac.com/files/258_icethickness.jpg

Gary it's not how much weight in one spot that is the concern it's the speed over ice . As you know when vehicles are travelling over ice it creates a wave under neath if the ice isn't the proper thickness. You are correct this guideline isn't in writing but for the past 12 yrs these are the numbers I have always heard and we followed with my numerous years on this board .
I am not doubting your concern for safety, only why we are not still using the specs our club has always followed.

Update: With this recent cold snap we have enough ice to race. Test holes were drilled at 6:00 p.m. tonight and the thickness is deemed within safety limits.
We will have a food vendor out for Sunday selling Hot Dogs, Hot Sausage, Coffee and Hot Chocolate

Quick question from timing and scoring.... How long is the track?
