While it certainly is a hike, the St Lawrence Auto Club (St LAC) is again hosting a two day Autoslalom weekend at Picton's historic WWII Commonwealth Air Training base. This event attracts drivers from the US, Quebec and elsewhere. This was especially so when the club hosted the Canadian Autoslalom Championships in 2018. While this usually takes place during the Victoria Day weekend, circumstances now allow it to take place August 14-15th, 2021. It's the perfect opportunity to visit Sandbanks Provincial Park, see Prince Edward County (think wine tours) and, of course, see the base as it was in the 1940s. You can find out more by visiting www.motorsportreg.com/events/casc-regional-autoslalom-event-5-6-st-lac-picton-airport-ontario-661033 A typical field involves more than 100 drivers on the Saturday and some 70+ on the Sunday. You can look forward to two minute runs. You can see the action on YouTube.
