Hi everyone we are increasing the number of people per team to a total of 8 including the driver.
All people attending on the team must email the club the names, if they are not on the list they will not be allowed in.
Also due to the low car count this will be the last weekend of the season.

Hello everyone,
The executive met this past Thursday and we’re happy to announce that we will be able to move forward with holding a limited series.
PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING CAREFULLY. This year will be different due to Covid-19 precautions in place.
1) Covid-19 Restrictions
We have signed a contract with the port authority that stipulates that we hold a closed season with no spectators in order to limit the liability. The following guidelines will apply:
- Each team will be permitted up to 4 people on site. This is to ensure that everyone is able to have their drivers and necessary support crew on site, while minimizing the number of people on site per our contract.
- Teams must email the club prior to each race day to provide the list of names for their team for that week. Team members must be on the list, or they will not be granted access to the site.
- Masks are mandatory for distances less than 2 meters/3 feet, as well as for the use of the washrooms/porta.
- No ride sharing in race cars or plow trucks unless from the same household – Masks are required.
2) Closed events – No general public, no spectators, no exceptions. The only people on site are to be max 4 members per team and necessary support staff/volunteers.
3) Day One
- All teams/members are to submit their membership and entry fee money in an envelop/plastic bag with their team number, class, and names of the members the payment is for.
- Unfortunately we are unable to have sponsors this year, due to the lack of spectators. This has led to an increase in the entry fee to $70, in order to cover increased insurance and security costs.
- Example:
43 Petty Racing - Rubber Stock
$70.00 Entry Fee
Richard Petty $60.00 membership fee
Kyle Petty $30.00 membership fee (Family)
- We will not have change on site or be handling money. Please ensure you gave correct change or a cheque in your envelop.
4) Mission Bay Gate will be open from 9:00 a.m. and closes at 11:00. Due to the agreement with the Port Authority the events are not open to the general public and the Port Authority will not allow any unauthorized people onto the property. Safety Net Security will control the gate and if a person is not on the approved list of names connected to a team they will be refused access to the site.
5) Race schedule - pending any unforeseen circumstances
- February 6th
- February 13th
- February 19 & 20th – double weekend, Don Kettering Memorial Weekend
- February 27th – possible additional date – weather and car count pending
- There will be no throwaway dates
6) Volunteer List - Teams will be assigned a date to have a volunteer for the day. The Volunteer list will be created by random draw from a hat. List will be posted on the forum.
7) Trophies – Club will be awarding trophies in each class 1, 2 and 3rd. However, due to a reduced competition schedule and no corporate support in 2022, overall series trophies will not be awarded. No throw away days in the points count. The club is trying to provide our members with a fun limited series under tough government restrictions.
8) Tech Inspection
a) Cars that competed in 2020 will complete a self-tech. The inspection form is attached to this email. Please complete a copy and bring it to the track on the first day of competition. Please ensure your belts are within 5 years, all lights work, and your battery is secure!
b) Cars that are new or did not run in 2020 will have to schedule an inspection date and time. Please either email at info@thunderbayautosportclub.com or message the Facebook page
c) Tech Inspection fee applies at $25.00
9) Deadline for new memberships is Friday, February 4th if you plan to race this weekend.
Thank you everyone for your cooperation and understanding. We’re very excited to be able to move forward with a limited series!
Melissa
